About festivals.day
festivals.day is a global festival calendar focused on public holidays, cultural celebrations, and recurring observances.
Data sources
We prioritize the issuing authority for each date: official government calendars, UN agencies, WHO, UNESCO, and the institution responsible for the observance. Secondary references are used only for cultural context.
- Official government and public holiday calendars
- Cultural institutions and tourism boards
- Reference works such as UNESCO, museums, and encyclopedic sources
Editorial standards
We normalize naming, remove duplicates, and prefer the clearest globally recognizable label for each celebration.
- Date rules are modeled explicitly. When sources conflict, the issuing authority takes precedence and yearly overrides are rechecked.
- Festival names favor the clearest international label while keeping local context in the description.
- UI and festival content follow the same locale routing and hreflang rules used across the site.
Update policy
Source-backed records keep their source URLs and last-reviewed date. We recheck them when an issuing authority changes a date, a yearly override is added, or a correction is confirmed.
Editorial review team
The festivals.day Editorial Team checks cited dates, scope, and cultural context against the sources shown on each page. This is an editorial review identity, not a claim of individual legal, religious, or cultural authority.
